Singao

Barangay SINGAO derived its name from a big creek named “Singao” whose source of water came from a creek named “Singkato” in Upper Nuangan. Singao was formerly a sitio

of barrio Saguing, then a barrio of Makilala before it became a separate municipality from Kidapawan the boundary of which is the Saguing River. Its first settlers were the Burcao, Remorosa, Timtim, and Panerio families. The first appointed Barrio Lieutenant was Martin Burcao, a native of Mountain Province. Singao became a regular barrio through Executive Order No. 82 Series of 1947. In the 1950’s, the settlers of the area were mostly Cebuano, Boholano, Igorot and Bagobo. With the increase in population, the people clamored for the establishment of an elementary school, realized through the efforts of Mrs. Ayupan and Mrs. Abenir. Another version of how the area got its name was from that of an influential datu named Datu Singao. People adopted his name as the name of Barangay Singao. It was registered in the year 1954 as Barangay. Mr. Martin Burcao and Mr. Sergio Panerio had donated the land on which the Barangay hall was built.
