San Roque
The first people in Brgy. San Roque was the cultural minority specifically the “Manobos”. Their ways of living were by means of clearing and cultivating the lands. But later, due to
some Christian immigrants, Manobos slowly sold their lands in just a small amount and even bartered it to any items such as sugar, tobacco, salt and clothes. In 1950 majority of the populace were already Christians. Most of the Manobos transferred to other places. This same year was also the creation of Barrio Magsaysay named in honor of the late Pres. Ramon Magsaysay. They realized that there was Magsaysay in Poblacion Kidapawan and proven that some of their letters come from other places were lost so they decided to change Barrio Magsaysay to Barrio San Roque in honor of their Beloved Patron Senior San Roque last January 20, 1952. Barrio San Roque has total land area of 565 hectares and the boundary between the Municipality of Matalam and Municipality of Kidapawan. The first public School was constructed by means of “Bayanihan” and the first teacher was Mr. Damiano Lucero. Roman Catholic and Jehovah’s Witnesses were the first religion.
