Perez

In the year 1930, there were Pampangueño merchants who had sold clothes and blankets to the City of Davao and Kidapawan. One of them was the late

Bernardino P. Canlas. This fellow was a scout United States Veteran of the World War II. He was a United States pensionado and no longer active as a soldier at that time. This fellow was born to Pedro Canlas and Nicolasa Perez of Macabebe, Pampanga. In 1938, a nephew of Canlas by the name of Agustin Sanga and his group went on selling his clothes to Kidapawan. At the same time they see to it that it would be easy for them to live in the area. For that the group decided to permanently reside in the area. Mr. Bernardino

 

Canlas married a native Bagoba named Macanay Lamilongan whom he born with nine (9) children. After a year later, Agustin Sanga married also a Manoba named Juanita Islod whom he had eight (8) children. They were the first Christians who occupied the place. In 1940, through an agreement between Mr. Pedro Canlas and Mr. Agustin Sanga, they named the place “Perez” in honor to Canlas’ mother and at the same time Sanga’s aunt. This is how the place got its name. Barangay Perez became a regular barrio through Executive Order No. 82 Series of 1947. Mr. Agustin Sanga became the first Barrio Lieutenant by virtue of appointment during the incumbency of Mayor Alfonso Angeles, Sr. he served the Barangay for almost 32 years.
