Onica
Barangay Onica was formerly a Sitio of Barangay Amas which was founded by ex- brgy. Captain Jesus Gayotin, Sr., leader and founder.
When Amas became more inhabited and expanding in territorial governance, among sitios like Brgy. Patadon, Brgy. Malinan, Brgy. Gayola and Brgy. Onica which were now emancipated from the mother Brgy. Amas. The people of Onica, a former sitio of Upper Malamote of Brgy. Amas led by ex-Brgy. Captain Restituto Dorado, ex-brgy. Captain Sabino Prudente Sr. were among the pioneers of the place together
with the Ballarta’s, Maquiran’s, Paguntalan’s, Cabantog’s and Gayat’s Family who came from Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Capiz and Antique thought of naming Upper Malamote to Onica deriving from initial name of their places of origin, which mean O- as Occidental Negros, I- as Iloilo, C- as Capiz and A- as Antique forming Onica as it is named, which is now a chartered Barangay Onica.
