Manongol

Manongol derived its name from a small creek called by the minorities Manongol. Prior to this, the place was called Tagbao. The Manobo Tribe, led by their

Chieftain Datu Ugos Ingkal with his relatives and followers, then inhabited it. The name Tagbao was swapped by Tidapawan by the said chieftain with the existing Tagbao now under the jurisdiction of Magpet Municipality, to fit the literal Manobo term Tidapawan, meaning water from the lowland searing up in the hill. In the year 1901, when the Philippines was under the rule of the American Military Government, Datu Ugos Ingkal was summoned by the American Commanding Officer Stationed in Cotabato for a conference. It was then at that time that Datu Ingkal was appointed  as  Cabesa  de  Barangay  of  Kidapawan

District,Pikit, Cotabato. In 1935, Datu Siawan Ingkal succeeded his mother and was appointed as District Mayor of Kidapawan, by the late President of the Philippine Republic Manuel L. Quezon. Then known as the “OLD TOWNSITE,” for the reason that Manongol was supposed to be the present Poblacion of Kidapawan. Because of this Datu Siawan Ingkal selected the first set of District Councilors and Tenyente del Barrio of Kidapawan. However, when Manongol became a regular Barangay by virtue of Executive Order No. 82 Series of 1947, the old Manongol was adopted by the first set of Barangay Officials headed by the Barangay Lieutenant Datu Amado Pinantao.
