Malinan

Barangay Malinan was one of the Sitios of Barangay Amas for forty one (41) years. In August 26, 1962, through Resolution No. 50, it was proclaimed a regular barrio of Kidapawan

through the efforts of Atty. Juan Sibug, Vice Mayor during the term of Mayor Alfonso Angeles, Sr. The place was then occupied mostly by Manobos, in which they comprised 78% of the total population; 17% Christians; and 5% Muslim. In the same year, Datu Umana Sulayman was appointed as Tenyente del Barrio. Mr. Arsenio Garin was chosen as Barrio Secretary. Horses were the mode of transportation until Sarsuelo Company entered, and then started development of roads. In 1965, Malinan Primary School was established and was headed by Mr. Manalo, followed by Mr. Descartin in

1966, Mrs. Patrocinio Ballesteros in 1969, and in 1971 by Mr. Anema. The Barangay was considered “no man’s land” in the year 1968. Barangay Malinan became a critical area which resulted to suspension of classes and temporary closure of Malinan Primary School. Mr. Arsenio Garin succeeded Datu Umana Sulayman as Barangay Chairman in 1970 election. It was at the same time that Nocosii, Inc. entered the area and was responsible for the opening of other Barangay roads. Peace and order situation was regained by the Barangay in 1986 wherein Mr. Romeo Daruca was chosen as the OIC Barangay Chairman. From then on development projects and programs have been continuously implemented in the Barangay.
