Katipunan
Sometime in 1945, people from different parts of the Philippines began to migrate to the area of Katipunan, which was then a Sitio of Barangay Binoligan. Among the first settlers of the place are the families of Pedro Barruela
and the Asineros. Later, people of different tribes settled in the area. These are the Manobos, Boholanos, Ilonggo, Cebuanos and Warays. The residents petitioned separating the place from Barangay Binoligan. Ex Municipal Councilor
Gil dela Cruz initiated the separation of the barrio from Binoligan. And in 1959 it became a regular Barangay through Resolution No. 50; they agreed to name the barrio KATIPUNAN, meaning the place where several tribes gathered together.
Also in 1959, the resident farmers in the area suffered from nine (9) months drought which resulted to decrease in agricultural production. In 1963, Mr. Pedro Barruela succeeded Mr. Albert Antonio. In 1971 election, a lady Barangay Chairman was elected in the person of Ms. Arcadia Banga. Mr. Antonio Cumahig in 1972 and Mr. Federico Cordova in 1979 then succeeded her. An incident happened wherein Mr. Cordova was shot dead by an unidentified lawless element resulting to the appointment of Mr. Reston Campomanes as the OIC Barangay Cahirman. Mr. Romulo Pagal was elected as Barangay Chairman in 1987 election. Mr. Jackson Enad succeeded him in 1994 and up to the present he holds the office as Barangay Chairman.
