Birada

The name “BIRADA” was derived from the name of a local Manobo chieftain, BIRA. According to the old folks, Bira was a strong man who was an expert abaca stripper.

Moreover, “bira” is a Visayan term meaning “to pull”. The suffix –da was added to transform it into “birada” – meaning “to pull”; the term of which was adopted by the inhabitants of the barangay. Hence, the name BIRADA. Barangay Birada was created along with 11 other barangays when Kidapawan was declared a municipality separate from its mother municipality, Pikit, in August 1947 by virtue of Executive Order No. 82 signed then by President Manuel Acuña Roxas.
